These facts are just a few of the reasons why calories are not a definite determinant of trying to gain or lose weight. For example, if we take into account that a half kilo of body weight contains 3,500 calories, theoretically we should not lose half a kilo of fat a week when a 500 calorie cut is made. However, if you continue to do this continuously, you will see that weight loss is diminishing and eventually stopping because your daily calorie intake will come back to the same level as your daily calorie needs because of your body's compliance.
